A rosary will be said for Roy G. Aiazzi, 87, a lifetime Yerington resident, at 7 p.m. Friday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 37 N. West St., in Yerington.

A funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at the Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Aiazzi died Nov. 28, 2006, at his son's home in Gardnerville, of complications from cancer.

He was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Yerington, to Emilio and Vanelia Quilici Aiazzi.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.

He was self-employed for 25 years as a Standard Oil wholesale distributor of petroleum products. After he retired, he worked for the City of Yerington Public Works Department.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Italian Catholic Society, the Yerington Volunteer Fire Department, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Yerington Rotary Club and the local golf club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, gardening and bottle hunting.

He was preceded in death by four siblings; wife, Mary Aiazzi, and daughter Gail Aiazzi Soderstrom.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cynthia Aiazzi of Gardnerville; brothers Ray Aiazzi of San Diego, Leno Aiazzi of Reno, Pete Aiazzi and Reno "Gus" Aiazzi of Yerington; sisters Adena Pacini and Ruth Parsons, both of Reno; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
