The State Health Insurance Assistance Program can assist Medicare beneficiaries who need help signing up for a drug plan or checking to see if their medications will still be covered, in the plan they are currently enrolled in.

The program will provide one-on-one appointments with beneficiaries who need help with the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. There are new plans in the system for Nevada, premiums have changed and formularies might have changed. Beneficiaries are encouraged to go to the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive and make sure they have coverage for their medications. There is financial help available to help pay for premiums and prescriptions.

Call the Carson City Senior Citizens Center at 883-0703, the Douglas County Senior Center at 783-6455, or any senior center in your area and appointments will be scheduled. Open Enrollment ends Dec. 31. Plan coverage begins Jan. 1.

TV show seeking homes to show

"What You Get for the Money" is a 30-minute television show that airs on both the HGTV (Home and Garden television) and Fine Living networks. The company is bringing cameras to Lake Tahoe in January and is looking for outgoing homeowners/design enthusiasts to share their homes and their stories.

The homes need to be stylishly designed and the value of the homes need to be within the range of $150,000 to a million.

Producers will see the homeowners in their homes and out in the community, but the focus will be on the home itself and the lifestyle.

It's Tuba Christmas time; players sought

All area tuba, baritone and euphonium players are invited to participate in Tuba Christmas 2006. The concert will be at Reno's Park Lane Mall on Dec. 17. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by rehearsal at 1 and the concert at 3.

Created by Harvey Phillips, Tuba Christmas concerts are performed in 180 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. The concerts include Christmas carols arranged in four-part harmony to be played by tubas, baritones and euphoniums.

Reno museum to show Latin artworks

The Nevada Museum of Art will host "Voces Latinas: Works on Paper" from 1921 to now through March 1. "Voces Latinas" (which translates to Latino Voices) showcases artworks by 17 artists who represent the diverse range of creative voices within the Latino community. Voces Latinas highlights works on paper from the earliest years of the 20th century to the present and touches on complex subjects and issues that continue to inspire dialogue and debate. "Voces Latinas" shows at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for the Visual Arts, E. L. Wiegand Gallery at 160 West Liberty St. in downtown Reno. Paintings of Little Bighorn on display
