Seferino J. Griego, 79, a 27-year Carson City resident, died Sept. 30, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Griego was born April 10, 1927, in Pintada, N.M., to Lucio P. and Martha Pacheco Griego.
He was a police officer for the New Mexico State Police for 16 years, and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife of 61 years, Pita Ortega Griego; sons and daughters-in-law Albert S. and Wilma Ortega and Richard and Carole Griego; daughters and sons-in-law Martha and Joe Marrufo, Debbie and John Pottman and Mary and Mitch Faiss; daughter Maria Griego, daughter Julia Griego and her partner Tom Thompson; sons Robert and Peter Griego; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
