Charles S. 'Chuck' Jacobs

Charles S. "Chuck" Jacobs, 77, a longtime Gardnerville resident, died Sept. 30, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Jacobs was born June 24, 1929. He grew up on a family ranch on the Sweetwater River in Wyoming.

He owned the Union Bar, managed the Noble Hotel, and was casino manager for Barney's until a car accident left him disabled.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mr. Jacobs lived at Lake Tahoe and in Lander, Wyo. He belonged to the Elks Club.

He enjoyed gardening, growing giant pumpkins, cutting wood in Hope Valley, music and playing cards.

He rode in the rodeo and was a pickup man.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Levis, Louise and Edna.

Among his survivors are his wife, Shirlee Jacobs of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law Shayleen and Jim Snyder of Loveland, Colo.; daughters Celynn Jacobs and Lyle Beatty of Sparks; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tonie Jacobs of Gardnerville; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; five nieces; and caregivers Pedro Leon, Rick Brennan, Mike Cady and Cliff Brewer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, 2869 Esaw St., Minden, NV 89423. At his request, no services will be held.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
