The Carson Tiny Mites Blue Football Team improved to 5-0 by beating the Reno Falcons 30-0.

The Falcons started off strong on the first drive, running 12 plays and controlling the line of scrimmage. They were unable to put the ball in the end zone and their offense sputtered after that.

The Carson defense, led by Conner Larkin's 12 tackles and interception, was aggressive after the first drive. Hunter Wheeler had his best game of the year at outside linebacker, where he made numerous tackles and did not allow a runner to run past him the entire game.

Others who played well defensively were Tristan Martel, who made a touchdown saving tackle, Blake Snyder, Colton Schafer, Dawson Lamb, Phillip and Justin Lopez, Cody Radtke and Christopher Lyons. In addition to playing center, Nick Tibma secured the right end of the defensive line where he allowed no one to run around him.

On offense, quarterback Derek Schafer ran a keeper to the right side and found the goal line on the first drive. The second drive netted another score with Brandon Gagnon swept left for a 50 yard touchdown run to give Carson a 12-0 halftime lead..

In the second half, Carson was able to force the Falcons to turn the ball over on downs on every posession.

On the Senators' first posession they faced a fourth and 20 from their own 16. Schafer took the ball up the middle the length of the field for a touchdown. He was assisted by his offensive line with outstanding blocking, Walker Bates, Zachary Roark, Gavin Bakkedahl, Carl Cavner, Tristan Woslum and Conner Arnold paved the way.

The next series saw Gagnon run up the middle behind fullback Jarod Butler. Butler provided several huge hits that sprung Gagnon to the outside and up the sideline for another score.

Luke Myers then took control of the quarterback duties where he passed well and ran the offense effectively. On the last series of the game, Myers handed the ball to Schafer on a reverse where he was able to break several tackles and score from 40 yards out.

The Tiny Mites take their 5-0 record on the road to Reno on Friday the 13th where they will face the Reno Ravens at 6 p.m. at Mira Loma park.
