The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is reporting they located the body of Deputy Branden Berry at about 3:40 p.m.

"It is with great sadness that the Douglas County Sheriff's Department must report that the body of Deputy Berry was discovered deceased, seated in his vehicle, which was parked behind a shopping center in northern Douglas County. A preliminary investigation indicates that Deputy Berry died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," said a press release by Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.

An investigation is underway.

Deputy Berry, 22, was hired Tuesday but failed to show up for work Wednesday.

At approximately 6:15 Wednesday morning Deputy Berry left his home in Carson City for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Minden. Deputy Berry never arrived.
