Another debatable call turned out to be the difference for the Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team in a 1-0 loss at Salt Lake City Community College on Friday.

The only goal of the game came after WNCC goalie Rachelle Goulet went out to grab the ball and a Salt Lake player was knocked down on the play. A foul was called on Goulet and Salt Lake scored on the penalty kick.

Normally the goalie is protected in that situation. "It's always to the goalkeeper's advantage," Arthur said.

Courtney Lenhart also had chances on three breakaways but couldn't convert. WNCC outshot Salt Lake 5-4.

"It was a really evenly matched game," Arthur said. "It was a little disappointing. It was a little heartbreaking."

The game was a preview of the Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason tournament in which WNCC and Salt Lake will play for the right to likely meet North Idaho College for the tournament title. The winner of the tournament will advance to the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Playoffs.

"We're in a little slump but I feel liker we're going to come out of it," Arthur said.

WNCC (6-8-2) next plays today at Snow College in Utah.
