Junior Pee Wees, Tiny Mites win

The Carson Senators Junior Pee Wee football team won 13-6 in overtime on Friday against the Sparks Wolf Pack at Don Mello Field in Sparks.

The Senators were the first to possess the ball, and on the second play from scrimmage, tChance Banta took the ball up the middle and bounced outside right and scrambled up the sideline for a 40 yard touchdown run.

The Wolf Pack then took posession of the ball and after picking up a first down fumbled the ball which was recovered by Banta.

The Senators were able to move the ball with Banta's running and picked up a first down when Garrett Schafer hit Walker Plaut for a 15 yard gain. The Senators turned the ball over on downs, and the defense took the field. A few plays into the drive, Anthony Gonzales caused a Wolf Pack fumble, which was recovered by Jake Alferes. The Wolf Pack defense stood strong, and the Senators were stalled when time expired in the first half.

The Wolf Pack took posession of the ball in the second half and on their first series fumbled the ball which was again recovered by Alferes.

The Senators then got a nice 40 yard run by Banta, but were unable to convert.

When the Wolf Pack took over, they put together a long drive which ended in a 60 yard touchdown run to tie the score 6-6 and the game went to overtime.

Overtime started with the Senators in possession of the ball. After a pickup of 3 yards on three runs up the middle, Schafer rolled left and found Alec Donner in the end zone for the winning score. Kyle Sharp ran in the extra point on a sweep left. The Wolf Pack were stopped on all four attempts in their effort.

Defensively, Tristian Bakkedahl, David Ceballos, Austin Doty, Casley Matthews, Ben Swartz and Christian Tercero, Dalton Butler, Brandon Maffei, Russell Maxwell, J.D. Sam and Austin Shaffer all played well.

The offensive line consisting of Carl Cavner, Eric Slabaugh, Jacob Herzing, Rossnel Dagdagan and Tony Castillo played well and Casey Reynolds, Charles Hersey, Riley Hutchings, Robert Carmazzi and Richard Merlin also played well on offense.

The 4-2 Junior Peewees play their final regular season game, which has playoff implications, this Friday in Reno at Mira Loma park at 8 p.m. against the Reno Falcons.

TINYMITESBLUE 12, RAVENS 6

The Carson Tiny Mites Blue kept their win streak alive on Friday in Reno by beating the Reno Ravens 12-6.

On the second play from scrimmage, Brandon Gagnon took the ball on a sweep left 46 yards for the Senators' first touchdown. The rest of the first half was a defensive battle.

Nick Tibma and Blake Snyder made numerous tackles in the Ravens backfield throughout the game. Colton Schafer, Dawson Lamb, Hunter Wheeler, Tristan Martel, Justin and Phillip Lopez, Cody Radtke and Christopher Lyons also played well defensively.

In the second half, a 20 yard pass completion from Derek Schafer to Luke Myers, set up the Senators at the 10 yard line with a first and goal, but the Raven defense held. But Conner Larkin intercepted the ball and ran it back for a touchdown which put the Senators up 12-0.

The Ravens scored on their next drive, but the Senators were able to control the ball to secure the win.

Offensive linemen Gavin Bakkedahl, Carl Cavner, Zachary Roark, Conner Arnold and Walker Bates all played well and Jarod Butler and Tristan Woslum also played well offensively.

The 6-0 Tiny Mites Blue team will host the Sparks Wolf Pack this Friday at 6 p.m. at Governor's Field.
