A pedestrian killed early Monday morning on Highway 50 East has been identified as James Russell Bradley, 22, of Carson City.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen, Bradley was apparently attempting to cross Highway 50 East from in front of the Country Store about 3:29 a.m. when he was struck in the eastbound slow lane by a truck driven by Daniel Allen Choat, 36, of Dayton.

Bradley sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:42 a.m.

Choat was not injured and submitted to a voluntary blood draw as part of the procedure in investigating fatal accidents. It's not likely that Choat will be cited.

Allen said it's believed that intoxication on the part of Bradley may have contributed to the accident. He said Bradley celebrated his 22nd birthday on Monday.

Witnesses to the accident are encouraged to call Trooper Eric Gallagher at (775)689-4661.
