Ghost walking to haunt the region this weekend

The annual Ghost Walk, a 90-minute walk along the historic Kit Carson Trail, will be taking place Friday through Sunday this weekend. Tours are available at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday in Gardnerville; from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Carson City, with departures every 30 minutes; and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday in Genoa. From 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday the historic Genoa Cemetery will be featured. Tickets are $15 for the Carson City walk; all other walks are $5. To reserve tickets, call 1 (800) NEVADA-1.

Local scrapbooking store offers its supplies to make veterans cards


County Purr Farm Scrapbooking's free handmade-card event is from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at the store, 3220 Highway 50 E. in the Longs Shopping Center.


All supplies will be provided free of charge to make handmade thank-you cards, one for each veteran at the Reno Veterans Affairs Hospital to have on their breakfast tray for Veterans Day. Call 885-7377.


Foster parent and adoption training begins

Strings in the Schools sponsors cello class


The Carson City Symphony's "Strings in the Schools" program will be sponsoring a master class with cellist Stephen Framil at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Seeliger Elementary School band room, 2800 S. Saliman Road.


The class is free and open to the public but reservations are required.

Behind-the-scenes tours Friday at State Museum


The Nevada State Museum will be featuring behind-the-scenes tours of its natural history and anthropology collections at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Regular admission applies; this tour is free for members. For information or to reserve a spot, call 687-4810 ext. 237.




'Fantasy Faire' events to benefit local charities


The Carson City Emblem Club No. 507's annual Fantasy Faire is Friday and Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St. Friday will feature early-bird preview shopping and a chili feed from 5-8 p.m.


Shopping will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; a hot dog lunch will be available. Proceeds will benefit local charities. Call 882-3751 or 267-9803.
