Preliminary hearing for Fernley teacher accused of meth sales Oct. 31

A Fernley teacher and her husband will appear in court on Oct. 31 in a preliminary hearing on charges of selling drugs.

Kymberly Tamburello, 43, and husband Charles Tamburello, 42, appeared in Canal Township Justice Court on Wednesday morning for an arraignment. The two are each charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, maintaining a residence for the purpose of sales, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of both marijuana and methamphetamine.

Charles Tamburello, in custody on $141,132 bail, was appointed a public defender while his wife, allowed to remain out of custody because of a medical condition, hired a private attorney.

The Tamburellos will next appear in court Tuesday for a status check.

According to Lyon County Sheriff's Lt. Bob Sherlock, investigators obtained a search warrant for the couple's home after reports they were dealing methamphetamine. The search allegedly resulted in the seizure of 26.3 grams of methamphetamine and 186.2 grams of marijuana, all of which was packaged for sale.

Kymberly Tamburello is a teacher at Fernley Intermediate School. It's unclear if Tamburello is continuing to teach. Calls to the Lyon County School District were not immediately returned.
