GOP men's club to meet today

Leon Aberasturi and Wayne Pederson, candidates for the Third Judicial District Court judge's seat, will address the Dayton Republican Men's Club meeting at noon today at the Gold Canyon Saloon and Restaurant on Main Street in Old Town Dayton.

WNCC to present 'Fiddler' musical

Western Nevada Community College Fallon will offer "Fiddler on the Roof," Nov. 9-11 and 16-18. Shows will be 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday each week at the Churchill County High School Theatre.

"Fiddler on the Roof" illustrates how strong family ties, customs, and love can help carry a Jewish family through the woes of being oppressed.

Mary Myers will direct, Bridget Rigg-Anderson will be assistant director and stage manager, Debbie Edwards will choreograph the musical, and Scott Thompson will be the artistic director.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $8 for children 12 years and younger. Call (775) 423-7565.

Final farmer's market on Sunday

Custom Gardens Organic Farm is holding the last open Sunday Green-Market 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at 3701 Elm St. in Silver Springs.

The farm will have spinach, lettuce blend, greens, tomatoes, sun-chokes, pumpkin, spaghetti and winter squash, and fall décor items.

Fall, winter and spring vegetables will still be available by telephone orders, and an appointment to pick up at the farm. Call (775) 577-2069.

Virginia City

Piper's to host 1864 Governor's Ball

Piper's Opera House will again host the 1864 Governor's Ball from 7-11 p.m. Saturday.

The dance will feature live, Victorian music, and attendees should wear period costumes or Western or formal attire.

Tickets are $37.50 each and are tax deductible. For a group of six or more, there is $5 off for each couple.

Tickets will be sold at the door.

Veterans Day Parade seeks entries for Nov. 11

Entries are being accepted for the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 in Virginia City.

To enter, mail a description of your entry to the Virginia City Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 464, Virginia City, NV 89440.

The parade forms at 10 a.m. at the Fourth Ward School, and begins at 11 a.m.

A dinner for parade participants will follow the parade at the Storey County Senior Center, at the corner of Mill and E streets. Late entries are welcome. Call 847-4768.

The weekend of Nov. 11-12 is also Armed Forces Appreciation Weekend in Virginia City and participating businesses will offer discounts to veterans and active-duty service members.
