As Carson High graduate Cassie Bowman moves higher up the single-season goal chart, she's also receiving plenty of recognition, highlighted by being named the Midwest Classic Conference Co-Player of the Week for women's soccer, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Bowman, a freshman, posted her first collegiate hat trick on Sunday in helping William Penn of Iowa (5-13) to a 3-1 victory over Iowa Wesleyan in the first round of the MCC Tournament.

Bowman now has 14 goals in 2006, moving herself into sole possession of sixth place on William Penn's single-season goals list. Bowman had tallied five other multi-goal showings prior to her hat trick. Bowman was also honored as the league's player of the week on Sept. 26 for William Penn, an NAIA school.

William Penn travels to La Crosse, Wis., today to face league regular-season champion Viterbo in the MCC Tournament semifinals at noon. The Lady Statesmen were shut out by the V-Hawks last month, 2-0.
