The Storey County School Board is looking for a new member, now that Lee Wilson resigned her seat as trustee.

Board President Pamela Smith said Wilson sited family and business concerns in submitting her resignation.

The school board will present Wilson with a proclamation and plaque thanking her for her service. Wilson was in the middle of her second term on the board, Smith said.

The district will appoint a new board member to fill Wilson's unexpired term. The seat will be up for election in 2008. The appointee will serve until the end of that year.

Smith said the board is advertising for a new board member and will hold interviews at its Nov. 2 meeting, set for 6 p.m. at the Virginia City Middle School library.

"We do public interviews," Smith said, noting that the board appointed member Deny Dotson the same evening he was interviewed.

"This is something we've done quite often in the past few years," she said.
