Fernley teacher's husband to plead in meth sales

The husband of a Fernley teacher is expected to plead guilty to selling methamphetamine.

Charles Tamburello, 42, waived a preliminary hearing and will plead to a charge of trafficking methamphetamine in Yerington District Court on Nov. 6. In exchange for the plea charges of maintaining a residence for the purpose of sales, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of both marijuana and methamphetamine will be dropped.

Charges were also filed against his wife, Fernley Intermediate School teacher Kymberly Tamburello. She was not arrested because of a medical condition that needs daily treatment. Deputy District Attorney Brandi Jensen said Kymberly Tamburello is set for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

"She hasn't accepted any negotiations at this time," Jensen said.

According to Lyon County Sheriff's Lt. Bob Sherlock, investigators obtained a search warrant for the couple's Fernley home after receiving reports they were dealing methamphetamine. The search allegedly resulted in the seizure of 26.3 grams of methamphetamine and 186.2 grams of marijuana, all of which was allegedly packaged for sale.

Kymberly Tamburello worked at Fernley Intermediate School as a sixth-grade, special-education teacher.

She is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, maintaining a residence for the purpose of sales, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of both marijuana and methamphetamine.
