The Minden Business Group is expecting thousands of visitors - lured by welcoming weather, tasty treats and quality crafts - this weekend for the 22nd annual Carson Valley Street Celebration.

Esmeralda Avenue will be closed from Highway 395 to Fifth Street to accommodate the 110 crafters and food vendors coming from all over the West.

"Personally speaking, God's been good to us," said Roxanne Stangle, Tumblewind owner and one of the originators of the popular street fair.

"It is supposed to be in the mid-80s and no wind or rain," she said.

Stangle said several vendors are coming from last weekend's rib cook-off in Sparks.

"No matter how tired they are, they always come to Minden," she said. "They said they love the valley and the people and the way they are treated."

Admission is free and the event is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Sunday.

Attendance ranges from 2,000 to 5,000 visitors, Stangle said.

She said some of the vendors have been with the street celebration since the beginning.

"The man who paints milk cans has been with us all 22 years. I told him if he didn't come and set up out near the highway, people wouldn't know we were having the craft fair," Stangle said.
