The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the year in a 5-0 defeat on Tuesday at Paradise Valley in Arizona.

WNCC trailed 2-0 with about 15 minutes left when Paradise Valley scored three goals for the final margin.

"They really stepped up," WNCC coach Hillary Arthur said. "We definitely had a letdown and a breakdown. I definitely think that wasn't our best game."

It was a frustrating game for the Wildcats (2-1-2), who outshot Paradise Valley 16-14.

"Soccer is just one of those games," Arthur said. "We just couldn't put any of our shots away. We did a good job of pssessing, controlling the flow of the game."

The game figured to be even as Paradise Valley played Cochise to a 1-1 tie. WNCC played Cochise to a 0-0 tie earlier in the year.

Arthur praised the play of Douglas High's Meghan Olsen, who played three different positions. "She was just very solid, very consistent," Arthur said. "She had the best game."

WNCC will finish its Arizona road trip when it plays in a rematch at Cochise today.
