Saturday morning at Governor's Field proved to be too tough for the Sparks Raiders Tiny Mites.
The Carson Tiny Mites Blue defense was too fast for the Raiders offense. The Carson offense did not falter and Carson got the win 30-6.
Carson started the scoring in the first half with Brandon Gagnon running the ball on a sweep left and then a cut back inside where he found paydirt. The next series for the Raiders proved fruitful as they ran a quarterback keeper to the right. The Raider quarterback found his way into the end zone from about 60 yards.
Carson's Luke Meyers then answered with a score of his own on a right end around. That ended the first half with Carson leading 12-6.
The second half began with Carson on offense. After a long pass completion from Derek Schafer to Meyers, Jarod Butler pounded it straight up the middle and willed his way in for a score.
The Carson defense, comprised of Cody Radtke, Colton Schafer, Blake Snyder, Nicholas Tibma, Conner Larkin, twins Justin and Phillip Lopez, Hunter Wheeler, Tristan Martel, Dawson Lamb and Christopher Lyons, were swarming to the ball all day. The Raider offense was stopped on every posession in the second half.
The Carson offense wasn't quite finished. The offensive line consisting of Tibma, Walker Bates, Wheeler, Carl Cavner and Gavin Bakkedahl were aggressive and opened holes continuously.
Conner Larkin was able to bounce outside right behind the blocking of Conner Arnold and receiver Tristan Woslum where he found the goal line from 5 yards out. The Carson defense made another strong stand against the Raider offense which gave the ball back to Carson on downs.
The final score of the game saw Schafer run an end around right where he won the foot race to the end zone.
The 2-0 Carson Tiny Mites Blue travel to South Tahoe this Saturday at 10 a.m. where they will face the Tiny Mites Vikings.
