ABC's series' "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" are searching for new eligible men and women for the 13th season of the popular reality shows. Men and women who are looking to settle down are encouraged to apply. There is a $5,000 finders fee for friends, relatives and work associates who successfully submit the name of a friend or relative who makes it on to the show. Permits sold Sunday for wood sale


Permits for Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park's annual wood sale will be on sale from 12:30-4 p.m. Sunday at the Nevada State Library and Archives. Permits are $40 and are limited to one cord per address/family. Wood is limited; 100 cords are available. Pickup is scheduled between Oct. 6-15 and most will require a four-wheel-drive pickup. Pioneer Family Dance resumes


Pioneer Family Dance begins again on the fourth Saturday of each month starting Saturday. Dances are from 7-10 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W. King St.


Adults are $8, children 6 to 16 are free with adult or $5. Dance to Wild Sage. No experience necessary, call 883-9351




Scrapbooking class Thursday


There will be a free scrapbooking class and workshop at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Carson City Senior Center's PiƱon Pines room.


Participants should bring photos to make a sampler with.

The Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Quilt to benefit cancer foundation


All About Quilting, 193 Genoa Lane in Genoa, will be holding a Quiltpink Day to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation on Sept. 30. Quilters of all levels will get together and make pink-and-white quilt blocks to be sewn together and sent to an online auction with the proceeds going to the foundation. Participants need to have a sewing machine, pink and white fabrics, and basic sewing supplies. All About Quilting is offering a 10 percent discount for supplies to be used at the event. Veterans Day Parade seeking parade entries


Entries are being accepted for the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 in Virginia City.


To enter, mail a description of your entry to Lorraine Du Fresne at P.O. Box 3, Virginia City, NV 89440.


The parade forms at 10 a.m. at the Fourth Ward School and begins at 11 a.m. A dinner for parade participants will follow the parade at the Storey County Senior Center, at the corner of Mill and E streets.
