Permits on sale today for wood sale
Permits for Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park's annual wood sale will be going on sale from 12:30 to 4 p.m. today at the Carson City State Library and Archives.
Permits are $40 and are limited to one cord per address/family. Wood is limited; 100 cords are available. Pickup is scheduled between Oct. 6 - 15 and most will require a 4x4 pickup truck.

Church offering pregnancy loss support group in Carson City
Fountainhead Foursquare Church is offering a pregnancy loss support group, Take Heart, to reach out to those whose who have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or within the first months of life.
Fountainhead Foursquare Church is located at 3690 Hwy. 395 South of Carson City, behind Best Buy. Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month.
Books are available for purchase for $11. Take Heart is a nondenominational, anonymous support group for bereaved mothers.

'People of the Marsh' to show at Nevada State Museum on Tuesday
The Nevada State Museum's Frances Humphrey Lecture Series will be presenting a screening of the documentary "People of the Marsh," which details the lives and culture of the Paiute and Western Shoshone peoples.

The Tenth Annual Lockwood Landfill Open House will be held this year from noon to 3 p.m. today.

Friendly dogs can play at Lazy 5 water park today
Dogs can have a day at the Melio Gaspari Water Play Park at Spanish Spring's Lazy 5 Regional Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Dogs get in free but there is a $2 charge for each human being.
Dogs must be friendly and there is a limit of 2 dogs per person. Dogs must be leashed and current on all vaccinations, including rabies. There will be a dog contest held at 2 p.m. for Best Swimwear, Coolest Dog and Best Smile. For information call 424-1801.
