Pregnancy-loss support group meets in Carson City


Fountainhead Foursquare Church is offering a pregnancy-loss support group, Take Heart, to reach out to those whose who have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or within the first months of life.


Fountainhead Foursquare Church is at 3690 Highway 395 S., behind Best Buy. Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month. Books are sold for $11. Take Heart is a nondenominational, anonymous support group for bereaved mothers.

'People of the Marsh' to show at State Museum


The Nevada State Museum's Frances Humphrey Lecture Series will present the documentary "People of the Marsh," which details the lives and culture of the Paiute and Western Shoshone peoples.


The screening takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nevada State Museum.

Roberts House to hold teas


There will be teas to benefit the Roberts House Museum on the following dates, times and for the following prices: Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. for $15; Oct. 22 at noon for $15; Nov. 12 at noon for $15; and Dec. 3 and noon for $18.

Unity in the Community blood drive this week


The United Blood Services Center is holding its second annual Unity in the Community Executive Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at their office at 256 E. Winnie Lane. Lunch will be served at noon.


This is a major event that boosts local blood supply, and local donors are encouraged to attend.

Children's Museum to hold Spanish language classes


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will hold Spanish-language classes for young children starting Oct. 5. From 1 - 2 p.m. Thursdays, 4-to-6-year-old children will be tutored; and from 4 - 5 p.m. Thursdays, 6-to-8- year-olds. Tuition for the 10-week class is $80, and includes crafts, prizes, handouts and other class materials. Class size is limited. To reserve a spot, call 885-2110.




Brewery to offer adult improv class


The Brewery Arts Center is offering an Improv Workshop for adults at 449 W. King St.


Join in for a week-long workshop with Gerry Orton as to explore improvisational theatre and learn improv games and workouts. The week will highlight a "Who's Line Is It Anyway"- style improv show in which audience participation is encouraged.


Workshop dates are Oct. 2-6 from 7-9:30 p.m. Workshop cost is $30. A showcase performance by students is Oct. 7 at 7 pm. All seats are $5. Call 887-0438 to sign up
