Driver Safety class offered

An AARP Driver Safety Program class will be 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 28 at the Dayton Senior Center, 210 Old Dayton Valley Road.

DHS boosters offer golf tournament

The Dayton High School Boosters Club Golf Tournament will be 9 a.m. April 22, at the Dayton Valley Golf Club at Legado, 101 Palmer Drive, Dayton.

The cost is $125 per player, which includes golf cart, green fees and lunch buffet.

This 13th annual golf tournament benefits Dayton High School students involved in athletics. Raffle prizes and a silent auction accompany the tournament.

Listening library planned

The Cultural and Performing Arts for Dayton Area and the Lyon County library system are beginning a pilot program to create a listening library and a book drive. The listening library will be made up of CDs and DVDs that feature classical music, both instrumental and vocal, operas, jazz, big band and musical theater.

Gold Hill

Gold Hill plays, follies back

The Gold Hill Theater Troupe is back with it's spring plays. On Fridays at 7 p.m., the song, dance and comedy dinner show "Spring Follies" is back. Tickets are $45, reservations recommended.

On Wednesdays 7 p.m., the troupe performs "Yellow Jacket Margaritas" in its After Dinner Theater. Tickets are $28; $10 for the play only.

Mound House

Antique Mall to hold flea markets

The owners of the Antique Mall at 10104 Highway 50 are looking for vendors for their new flea market. The charge is $10 per day, and set-up will begin at 6 a.m.

The market will open every weekend, weather permitting, now through October. Admission will be free. Call 246-1618 for details and booth reservations.

Preschool accepting applications

Faith Baptist Academy Preschool is accepting applications for preschool children ages 3-5. School opens Monday.

First college fair at Silver Stage

Silver Stage High School will hold its first-ever College and Career Fair, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 20 at Silver Stage High School, 3755 W. Spruce St.

The event is open to the public, and will be attended by more than 20 higher education schools, potential employers. Call 577-5071.

Virginia City

'Play with Art' at St. Mary's

Make your mark on the historic St. Mary's Art Center, from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

Participant can draw, doodle or autograph wall murals, design prints on an etching press or work with clay.

Wine and appetizers will be served and visitor's can tour the historic center. There will be art for sale in a silent auction.

Lacy J. Dalton to perform at Piper's

Country singer Lacy J. Dalton will perform two shows at Piper's Opera House in April to benefit restoration of the historic hall and the Let 'Em Run Foundation, which aids area wild horses. Dalton is founder of the wild horse advocacy organization.

Motorcycle race back on the Comstock

The Grand Prix at Virginia City will be April 28-29, put on by the Virginia City Motorcycle Club.

The four-hour-long races start on C Street, then sends the racers down side streets out to old mining roads that circle around the Comstock. It also includes the Truck Route and Six Mile Canyon Road.

On April 27, registration will be 5-9 p.m. at the Delta Saloon. Registration Saturday will be 6:30-8:30 a.m. in the pit area, followed by a riders meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the start line. Racing will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 28, with a trophy presentation at 5 p.m. at the Delta.

On April 29, registration is 6:30-8:30 a.m. at the pit area with a riders meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the start line. Novice, Bomber and Vintage races will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Trophy presentation will be at 5 p.m. at the Delta Saloon.

Much of the proceeds benefit the Storey County School District, Jeep Posse Search and Rescue, volunteer fire department and sheriff's reserve. For more information, log onto www.vcgp.com.

Blues singer Magness to appear

The Churchill Arts Council will present a performance by the dynamic blues vocalist Janiva Magness and her band, in the Barkley Theatre at the Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St. in Fallon 8 p.m. April 21. Doors open at 7 and there will be a no-host bar. Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for nonmembers. Call (775) 423-1440
