Community drum circle at WNCC

A community drum circle is a fun event where people of all ages come together, share a rhythm and have a good time.

Participants might play a drum, a set of bongos, or even an upside-down garbage can.

Western Nevada Community College nursing students have organized a community drum circle to celebrate heart health and education from noon-3 p.m. Friday, outside the Aspen Building in the college's Rotary Plaza.

"Drum to the Rhythm of Your Heart" is a family-friendly event that everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Activities will include drumming, dancing, face painting, sidewalk art, and cardiovascular health education, including free blood pressure readings and pamphlets. Heart-healthy baked goods will also be sold.

"We want to educate people about the importance of cardiovascular health and how to take on a heart-healthy lifestyle," said Tina LeClaire, WNCC student and event organizer.

"Most of all, we would like everyone to have a good time."

Players to stage 'Send Me a Tenor'

Proscenium Players' fourth show of the season, "Lend Me a Tenor," by Ken Ludwig, opens Friday in the Donald W. Reynolds Theatre at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King St.

This farce is set at the Cleveland Grand Opera Company in September of 1934 when world-famous tenor Tito Morelli is to perform. Through a series of mishaps, Morelli is given a double dose of medication and is presumed dead.

But the show must go on, and so does the hysterical action.

The production is directed by Jason Macy and produced by Pat Josten.

Show dates are Friday and Saturday, April 27, 28, May 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and April 29 at 2 p.m.

Ticket prices are $12 for general admission and $10 for PPI/BAC members, seniors and students. For more information, call 883-1976.
