A rosary will be said for Al Blythe, 82, a seven-year resident of Gardnerville, 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church, in Gardnerville. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Aug. 11 at St. Gall.

Mr. Blythe died July 31, 2007, at his home. He was born March 25, 1925, to Arley and Carrie Lena Blythe in Detroit. Before moving to Gardnerville he lived in Bishop, Calif.

He married Ginger Elliott on May 24, 1975, in Webster, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University. He was a human resources manager. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of several numismatic organizations, a member of the St. Gall Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed numismatics, photography, hiking and blackjack.

Among his survivors are his wife of Gardnerville; sons and daughters-in-law Bruce and Lynn Blythe, Gary and Sondra Blythe all of Phoenix, Ariz.; son Brian Blythe of Orange, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Gail and Blaze Bruney of Orange, Calif., and Cynthe and Dave Renfrew of Hesperia, Calif.; stepchildren Joe and Margaret Mandry of Riverside, Calif., Sherri and Don Gober of Dallas, Texas, and Paul and Sandi Mandry of Yorba Linda, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Dex Zerby of Detroit; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley is in charge of arrangements.
