A 48-year-old convicted child molester is living in Minden and has registered as a sex offender.

David Eugene Larson was convicted of lewd/lascivious acts with a child under 14 in Alameda County, Calif., in 1988.

He has been assessed as a Tier 3 sex offender, which places him in the most likely classification for potential to re-offend, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

He resides on the 1600 block of Ninth Street and is employed on the 2500 block of Industrial Way in Gardnerville.

He drives a 2000 black Dodge Dakota, Nevada license TNKPSTV.

Nevada law mandates law enforcement agencies inform the public of sex offenders who have registered with the sheriff's office and met the criteria for community notification.

"This information is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public and the release of this information will enhance public safety and protection," according to the flier.

"This individual is not wanted by the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender works or lives. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass sex offenders will not be tolerated.

"Any act of recrimination or vigilantism against the offender is unlawful and will subject the individual engaging in such an act to criminal prosecution, in addition to possible civil liability."
