A graveside service for Walter Hastings, 84, a 40-year Gardnerville resident will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Eastside Memorial Cemetery in Minden.
Mr. Hastings died Aug. 2, 2007, in Reno. He was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Chicago. He married Lucille Hastings in Carson City. He graduated from high school and worked as an engineer in manufacturing. He served in World War II as a U.S. Army Paratrooper. He enjoyed building.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years; grandson Randy Folwer and great-granddaughter Christina Porcello.
Among his survivors are son Steve Guling; daughter Evelyn Kirk; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
