Malcolm S. Rountree, 89, of Yerington, died July 22, 2007, in Carson City.

Mr. Rountree was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Webb City, Mo. He was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941, retiring in 1970 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was awarded the Distinguished Fly Cross, Bronze Star, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and numerous other awards and citations. He entered real estate development after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. He married Evelyn M. Campbell, of Yerington, on Sept. 28, 1943.

Among his survivors are his wife of 63 years of Yerington; daughter Lynn Rountree Derflinger of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Dean B. Derflinger II of Las Vegas and Jacqueline "Annie" Barrera of Visalia, Calif.; three great-grandchildren Dean Barrera of Visalia, Jordyn and Breanna Derflinger of Las Vegas.

His ashes will be buried at Punchbowl, Hawaii.

Cremation was under the direction of FitzHenry's Mortuary.
