A vehicle fire that was threatening an apartment in North Carson City was quickly contained by Carson City fire fighters Thursday evening.

Fire Capt. Bob Schreihans said the flames ignited the vinyl siding of the two-story complex at the corner of David and Peter streets about 7 p.m.

Schreihans said it appears the fire began in the engine compartment of an unoccupied Ford pickup parked next to the building.

Heat damage to the exterior of the building did not extend to the interior of the apartments.

The cause is under investigation.
