A fatal car crash at 9:20 a.m. Sunday left one passenger dead and two drivers injured, an NHP official said.

The accident occurred on Fairview Drive just south of Fifth Street. Jerry Horine, 47, of Carson City, was driving northbound in his 2001 BMW X5 when he lost control and crossed into the southbound lane. He collided head-on with a southbound 2001 Cadillac driven by Mary Blueberg, 62.

The passenger in Blueberg's vehicle, Wretha Wright, 84, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early toxicology reports indicate Horine was driving while under the influence.

"Alcohol was involved," said Chuck Allen, NHP public relations officer.

Both drivers were flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Blueberg was listed in critical but stable condition Sunday evening.

Horine was treated and released into custody Sunday.
