Man arrested in Fairview DUI fatal

A Carson City man was arrested at a Reno hospital today for a Sunday wreck that claimed life of an 84-year-old woman.

Jerry Horine, 47, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony drunken driving causing death, drunken driving causing substantial bodily harm and misdemeanor driving left of center.

Horine was taken into custody by the Nevada Highway Patrol after being discharged from Renown Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the 9 a.m. wreck in east Carson City on Sunday.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Horine was northbound in a 2001 BMW X5 when he lost control and crossed into the southbound path of a 2001 Cadillac driven by Mary Blueberg, 62. The accident happened on Fairview Drive just south of the Fifth Street roundabout.

Blueberg's passenger, her mother Wretha Wright of Carson City was pronounced dead at the scene. Blueberg of Washoe Valley and Horine were flown to Renown Regional Medical Center.

Blueberg remains in the hospital.
