The Storey County Commissioners will consider the master-plan amendment and zone change request for the controversial development Cordevista at their meeting today.

The commissioners changed the meeting time to 5 p.m. in order to accommodate the large number of residents concerned about the development.

Blake Smith, a Reno-based developer, wants to change the zoning from special industrial to mixed-use, to accommodate a residential and commercial planned-unit development with between 8,500 and 15,000 homes on about 11,000 acres in the center of the county.

The Storey County Planning Commission recommended denial of the requests last month.

The meeting will be in the Storey County Courthouse, B Street, Virginia City. Call 847-0968.
