A 59-year-old Carson City woman was pronounced dead at the hospital after she was found on the grass just south of the Nevada State Museum on Monday afternoon.

Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Mike Fisher said the report went out as an intoxicated woman lying in the grass, but when he arrived, he realized the woman was not breathing. Fisher began chest compressions and continued to do so as paramedics loaded her into an ambulance.

Fisher said he did not smell any alcohol on the woman.

Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
