Elizabeth Frances "Betty" Knapp

Elizabeth Frances ("Betty") Knapp, 75, passed away suddenly on November 30, 2007 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. She suffered a brain injury in a fall at the home of her daughter in Carson City, Nevada.

Betty was born on June 14, 1932 in Riverton, Wyoming and lived most of her life in Wyoming. She was the second daughter born to Franklin and Elsie (Person) Sheldon. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1950 and was the salutatorian of her class. She attended the University of Wyoming, where she was associated with Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. While attending the University, she met and married her first husband, Dale Trubey, on December 21, 1951. The couple had one daughter. They divorced in 1957.

During her career, Betty was a court reporter in the 1960s for the Seventh Judicial District in Lander, Wyoming. When the family moved to Denver in 1967, she was employed as a legal secretary and real estate agent. On January 20, 1970, she married John V. Knapp and the couple moved to Casper, Wyoming. Betty and John were married for 37 years until he passed away on August 23, 2007.

Betty was a volunteer driver for Natrona County Meals on Wheels for over 25 years and was a member of the Casper rock hound club. She had many interests including photography and jewelry and costume design. She especially loved to travel in the RV, eventually traveling to all the lower 48 states. In her later years, she enjoyed making teddy bears and other craft projects and was an avid reader.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, and one stepson, Robert.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Tim Rubald of Carson City, Nevada; one grandson, Lawrence Rubald of Reno, Nevada; one sister, Ellen Reesy of Green Valley, Arizona; and one step-son, Thomas Knapp, of Grand Junction, Colorado.
