Michael J. Griffin, 64, of Carson City passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at

his home.

Mike was many things to many people. He had a number of nicknames, the big

guy, bigga, griff and, most importantly, grandpa mike. Some may describe

mike as a maverick, a force to be reckoned with, a softie, "a bitchin'

dude", even a stubborn sob. Many adjectives describe mike but most of all

mike was courageous---courageous in life, love and family.

Professionally, mike was all about numbers. Not surprisingly, mike worked

for Nevada's department of taxation. Also, mike worked for Nevada's public

service commission. Mike's friends and co-workers have been a constant

source of strength for the family. A simple thank you seems inadequate, but

thank you it is.

Mike was preceded in death by his two sons Michael Griffin Jr. And Steven

griffin. They both passed too young but their influence continues in mike's

grandchildren. Victoria, 11 and Robert, 6 of Dayton brought immense love

and laughter to mike's life. They are a shining example of what true love on

this earth really means. Sean and Patrick of Tallahasse, FL would bring a

smile to mike's face at the mention of their names.

Mike leaves behind a uniquely special person. Carie Olivera, "the daughter I

never had", helped mike in his journey from this life to the next. The

Olivera and Lamkin families surrounded Mike with so much love, it cannot be

measured.

Florence Griffin of Hobe sound, FL helped mike through his many challenges,

as any great mom would. Florence survives mike. Also, brothers Joe, Dennis

and Kevin, sisters Trish and Teri and 4 nieces and 2 nephews remain to

remember mike. His dad, Joseph Griffin Sr. Died in 1968.

A mass of thanks for Mike's life will be held at St. Teresa of Avila

catholic church in Carson City on Monday, December 10th at 2:30 pm. Burial

will follow at Dayton cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be

made to Wells Fargo bank, acct. # 5282729119 for the grandchildren's college

fund.

Odds are good that Mike is settling in nicely in his new digs, balancing

god's books, making sure all is on the up and up.

Local arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
