Send holiday memories


The Appeal is again soliciting holiday memories from readers.


Send us your holiday memories no later than Dec. 14. Send them to P.O. Box 1948, Carson City, 89702; drop them off at 580 Mallory Way, e-mail them to editor@nevadaappeal.com or fax them to 887-2420. Make sure they're labeled as "Holiday Memories."


It's OK to include a photo. We also ask that your stories be true, legibly written, and no longer than 500 words. Please include a name and phone number.


Christmas Barn Dance canceled


The Christmas Barn Dance, scheduled for Dec. 15, at the Senior Center, has been canceled.


This is not to be confused with the Wednesday night Barn Dances. These will start on a regular basis, 6-8:30 p.m., on Dec. 19.

State parks seeks public comment


The Nevada Division of State Parks will hold a public hearing 4-6 p.m. today at 901 S. Stewart St., Suite 5005 to receive public comments regarding the amendment of regulations that pertain to Chapter 407 of the Nevada Administrative Code. Written comments regarding the proposed changes must be received by the Nevada Division of State Parks by Friday. A copy of the proposed regulation may be obtained by e-mailing acloutie@parks.nv.gov or call 684-2770.




Dayton


Riverview holds first Christmas concert tonight


Riverview Elementary School will present its first annual Christmas concert at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in its multipurpose room, 1200 Feretto Parkway.


Students from kindergarten through fifth grade will perform classic Christmas carols and familiar tunes like "Jingle Bell Rock," "Silver Bells," "Frosty the Snowman" and "Winter Wonderland."


Some songs will be performed with piano accompaniment, and others will be done with students providing their own accompaniment. Still others will be performed with American Sign Language hand signs choreographed by students.


Kindergarten through second grade will perform from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a 20-minute intermission then the third through fifth grades will perform from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Douglas County


Senior cooking class offered


Douglas County Senior Center's "Life Options" program and Trader Joe's will conduct a cooking class 3 p.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane.


The class is free to seniors ages 60 and older.


Each month Trader Joe's will come in to "Tammy's Kitchen Stadium" with a new recipe.


December participants will make Creamy Chicken Primavera over rice or noodles with a bread and desert medley. For information, contact 783-6455.
