John Edwards' presidential campaign says more than 400 volunteers and union supporters will be knocking on doors in Nevada this weekend.

The Saturday statewide canvass will be the Democrat's largest in the state so far. Other campaigns have held similar events.

The former vice presidential nominee has been behind in the polls and in manpower in Nevada. As rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are airing television ads, Edwards' campaign says it will focus on organizing at the grassroots level.

His campaign says it does not expect to air ads before the holiday season.

Nevada State Director Oliver Gottfried says the campaign is expecting a "low to moderate" turnout in Nevada.

Nevada Democrats will hold a caucus on Jan. 19, 11 days after the New Hampshire primary.
