All sorts: There was good skating at Washoe Lake last Sunday, but in the afternoon it thawed and several boys fell in, but with no bad results. A Society in San Francisco proposes to do away with the time-honored practice of swinging a lady by the waist. They probably expect us to swing them by the hair.

Dedication at Boulder Dam: Commissioner Page of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said the government must maintain the open shop labor policy on all construction jobs, in dedicating the memorial to the 4,000 builders of Boulder Dam, including the 86 who died to "make the desert bloom."

Christmas Party for all children: Ormsby County children are looking forward to the annual Christmas party in the civic auditorium (now the Children's Museum). Chairman Ralph Nelson said the program will get underway with Christmas carols by the elementary school choir under the direction of A. A. Saliman. Christmas stocking have been filled and the large tree decorated. The main attraction of the program is Santa Claus.

In a speech on the Senate floor Chic Hecht maintains his efforts on nuclear waste and will protect Nevada as the state becomes home to the nation's first high-level nuclear waste dump. He said "some other politicians" have been "duped" by House Democrat leaders.
