John Shields, whose tenure as executive director of the Storey County Senior Center lasted only about three months, resigned Friday.

He taped a letter to the door of the center just before Friday's Christmas dinner was served, indicating he had accepted another position and thanking residents for the opportunity to serve.

"I've got a couple other gigs going," he said, but declined to elaborate.

Shields was hired in September, but faced criticism from board members for not being at the center often enough and for working other jobs.
