Carson City streets have snow and ice on them. Drive carefully and maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front of you in case of slipping or sliding. Reducing your speed may also help.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:33 a.m. the following road controls in Northern Nevada:

US Highway 395 " Snow tires or chains required for 11.4 miles between East US 50 and SR 530 " William Street and Winters Ranch.

US Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 21.1 miles between California state line and 0.4 miles west of US Highway 395 at south Carson City.

Chains mandatory for 47 miles between 4.1 miles east of Placerville and SR 89 in California.

Interstate 80 " Snow tires or chains required for 126 miles between 0.6 miles east of junction East McCarren Boulevard (Sparks Exit 19) and 1.5 miles west of Imlay (Exit 261).

Chains mandatory for 37.5 miles between Alta (Exit 146) and Central Truckee (Exit 186) in California.

Chains or snow tires are required on SR 88, SR 28 and SR 89 around Lake Tahoe. For current information in Nevada, call 511.

Today's weather will be cloudy with scattered snow showers in the afternoon. Highs from 28-38 and west winds 10-15 mph. Tonight, snow in the evening then scattered snow showers after midnight with accumulation of 1-2 inches.
