RENO- The Carson High girls basketball team improved to 10-1 in Sierra League play and 21-4 overall with an easy 46-30 victory at North Valleys on Friday.
"I think we played defense as good as we have (all year)," Carson coach Ric Garcia said. "Their zone gave us some problems early. We didn't panic. We ran a lot more motion. We got to play everybody."
That was critical with South Tahoe coming to town today for a 3:15 p.m. game at Morse Burley Gym.
Carson led 12-3 after one quarter and 26-13 at the break. Most of the Senators' offense was provided by Brandi Vega, who scored 12 of her game-high 17 in the fist 16 minutes.
A 14-4 surge in the third quarter made it 40-17 after three quarters.
Cassie Vondrak gave the Senators a nice effort with seven points. Megan Kilty, Anna Macquarie and Danielle Peacon added four points apiece.
