BOYS

Incline 58, Yerington 48

Incline jumped out to a 17-7 first-quarter lead and then held on in the second half to knock Yerington out of sole possession of second-place in the Northern 3A race.

Yerington (9-5 league, 20-7 overall) is now locked in a three-way tie for second-place with Lowry and Spring Creek with two games left on the regular season schedule.

"We didn't come to play and Incline did," Yerington coach Daron Wildermuth said. "We spotted them 10 points to start the game and that was the difference in the final score."

The Lions pulled to within 25-23 at halftime and tied the score with 6:52 left in the third quarter, but that's as close as they got. Incline put the game away by sinking four straight free throws in the game's final minute.

Kyle Baumann led all scorers for Incline with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. James Roberts scored 13 points and Casey Wildermuth 12 to lead Yerington.

Yerington ends its regular season at home next weekend against Truckee on Friday and North Tahoe on Saturday.

GIRLS

Galena 54, Fallon 16

Amy Scott, Colleen Kirk and Langley Iverson combined to score 31 points as Galena strolled to the High Desert League win.

The Grizzlies pitched a shutout in the first quarter when they took a 13-0 lead. They were up 30-3 at halftime.

Scott finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Kirk scored 13 points and Iverson 12.

The Grizzlies (9-2, 19-6) face two tough tests this week when they visit Bishop Manogue on Tuesday and then Elko on Friday.
