Charles Ceccarelli is walking on loose tiles two years after his new floor was improperly installed. The Carson City man estimates it'll cost $20,000 to fix. He's already spent $10,000 with JB Tile & Construction.

"We spent a lot of money to have this tile put in," Ceccarelli said Thursday. "We've been fighting this thing for two years."

The Nevada State Contractors Board revoked JB Tile & Construction's license Wednesday for substandard workmanship.

Jerry Beseler, who operated his carpentry business at 3470 Bonny View Drive, did not attend the hearing, according to the contractors board spokesman. Beseler was fined $2,850 and ordered to pay restitution.

Beseler, who filed for his Nevada license in 1998, could not be reached for comment.

The Ceccarellis have about 1,200 square feet of flooring to fix, which includes the hallways, kitchen, great room, master bedroom and kitchen. They spent about $8,000 on the tile and materials.

"We understand now that the glue that holds the tile together should've been a different glue," Ceccarelli said. "The concrete board put down should've been glued to the floor. It wasn't."

The family may have costs reimbursed from the Residential Recovery Fund, offered by the Nevada State Contractors Board. All licensed contractors pay into this fund.

It was established by the Legislature for those home owners who are not able to recover any restitution from their licensed contractor.
