Artisan's Store to hold Artful Afternoon on Saturday

Dance at the Senior Center is Saturday
The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding a senior dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the center, 911 Beverly Drive. Cost is $6 per person. Donors who donate blood through Valentine's Day will be automatically entered into a drawing to win one of two waterfall style, heart-shaped 1 carat diamond pendants, to be awarded Thursday. Backcountry safety programs start Saturday
The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Carson Ranger District and the Tahoe Backcountry Ski Patrol will be presenting free backcountry safety programs this winter.
Each program runs 20-45 minutes and will be followed by a guided educational hike that will last three hours. Kids, adults and families are welcome.
The programs will take place 10 a.m. Saturday and Feb. 17 and March 3 at the western end of Tahoe Meadows. For information, call 884-8122.
Michael's to hold class preview day Saturday
The public will have an opportunity to meet the instructors of Michael's craft classes from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Michael's offers Wilton Cake Decorating, Tole Painting, Knitting & Crocheting, Scrapbooking and Jewelry Making classes. Silver Knights plan information meeting
The Silver Knights Motorcycle Club will be holding an informational meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sharkey's in Minden.

'A Murder Is Announced' party planned at Douglas library today
The Douglas County Public Library in Minden will be holding a mystery party as part of their "A Murder Is Announced" adult reading program at 7 p.m. today at the library. The party theme is "No Murder Please, We're British," and a British tea of finger sandwiches, scones and fresh fruit will be served.
