Attending college can be a challenging and stressful time for some students. Dr. Erin Oksol, a clinical psychologist, will explore mental health on the college campus in a free lecture at Western Nevada Community College's Marlette Hall 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

"Mental Health on the College Campus: Challenges and Opportunities" will focus on clinical depression and anxiety disorders. The lecture is presented by the WNCC United Students Association, and includes a hosted informal dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m. for everyone who attends.

Oksol earned her master's degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she specialized in behavior therapy for anxiety disorders. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she works in the Student Health Center.

Laugh with comedian Buzz Sutherland at WNCC

Buzz Sutherland, winner of 16 different Comedian of the Year awards, will appear in a free comedy show at Western Nevada Community College's Marlette Hall at 7 p.m. Feb. 20. Refreshments will be provided; the event is sponsored by the WNCC United Students Association.

Sutherland, Campus Activities Magazine's 2006 Comedian of the Year, has appeared on NBC's Saturday Night Live, HBO's Comic Relief, and MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour. He has been named Comedian of the Year four times by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities and five times by the National Association of Campus Activities.

This show is rated PG-13, and is described as being 100 percent clean and 200 percent funny.

Students and community residents are invited to attend. Seating is limited.
