The Miss Carson City Scholarship Program will be accepting applications through Tuesday. The pageant will be held March 6.

Mile High Jazz Band plans Valentine concert on Tuesday


Treat your Valentine to a Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts, an evening of big-band music for listening and dancing at Comma Coffee 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesday.


General admission is $5 at the door; $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association and free for age 18 and under. Dance instruction, 6 to 7:30 p.m., is $5 additional.


Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts features the 17-member Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Sheryl Adams, presenting jazzy versions of favorite love songs for Valentine's Day. Call 883-2662.

Bedtime stories with Miss Carol Monday


The Douglas County Public Library's Minden branch will be holding Bedtime Stories with Miss Carol at 6:45 p.m. Monday. Valentine's Day stories will be featured. Children of all ages and families are invited; children may come dressed in PJ's and bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal.
