Presidential hopeful at Comma Coffee


Presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden will address Carson City Democrats in one of his first Nevada campaign appearances 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.

Biden will be in Carson City to participate in the first-in-the-nation Carson City presidential forum. The forum will be noon Wednesday at the Carson City Community Center. Tickets are sold out.


CASA to begin training volunteers


CASA will begin training volunteers from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Juvenile Court, 1545 E. Fifth St. CASA volunteers are appointed as guardian ad litem by the juvenile court for the best interest of the child in child-welfare cases.


The public is invited to attend this first meeting to learn more about volunteering.

Free railroad history program today


An "Exploring Nevada" free video program will be 3 p.m. today at the Wilbur D. May Museum at the Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. The program includes the video documentary "Steam Up Carson City." For information, call 785-4512.




Birds & Books group to meet Tuesday


The Birds & Books Reading Group will be meeting 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sundance Bookstore to discuss "Songbird Journeys: Four Seasons in the Lives of Migratory Birds" by Miyoko Chu. This is the reading group for the Lahontan Audubon Society.
