John 'Ted' McKinzie

A graveside service for John "Ted" McKinzie, 73, a nine-year resident of Carson City, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery in Carson City.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel in the Valley.

Mr. McKinzie died Feb. 15. He was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Denver to John Edward and Vesta McKinzie.

He married Joyce M. on July 27, 1978, in Reno.

Mr. McKinzie was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He worked as an electronics technician for Pacific Bell for 40 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community. He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, backpacking and camping, and loved to read.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Judy McKinzie.

Mr. McKinzie is survived by his wife; son Daniel McKinzie of Rohnert Park, Calif.; sister, Dorothy Thompson of Salem, Ore.; daughters Stefeni McKinzie of Carson City and Michelle McKinzie and Cheryl McKinzie, both of Concord, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. McKinzie's honor to the Salvation Army.
