A Carson City man is wanted on a Douglas County felony warrant, and investigators here want to talk to him about a counterfeit-check case.

Detective Bob Motamenpour said Daniel Mondragon, 25, is a suspect in the passing of fake checks at several Carson City casinos between November and January. Motamenpour estimated the checks at more than $5,000.

Mondragon has a criminal history of fraud and burglary and, Motamenpour said, he is a known drug user and is considered armed and dangerous.

"He has made comments that he will shoot it out with the cops," he said.

Mondragon is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 153 pounds, with green eyes and black hair. He is believed to be traveling in a white GMC Jimmy with fender and grill damage. Motamenpour said an informant has told investigators Mondragon may be attempting to acquire additional identifications in order to cash counterfeit checks in Elko casinos.

Anyone with information on Mondragon's whereabouts is asked to call Motamenpour at 887-2020, ext. 1400.
