The cure for cabin fever in Virginia City will happen Saturday at the Washoe Club, when the historic bar holds its annual Beach Party.

Beach sand is trucked in to cover the bar floor, heaters are on, and a pig is roasted for the special party, which owners Cliff and Jennifer McCain and Cherrie Bailey have been holding for five years.

Revelers can "dance all night at Washoe Beach, get lei'd on sandy shores, and enjoy festive beach drinks," said Cliff McCain. "It's supposed to be really nice weather, too, which is great because cooking a pig in the snow is tough."

Road Daddy will be playing rock 'n' roll and beach music. The bar will hold some special events, including an Ugly Hawaiian Shirt contest, a bikini contest and a Hula-Hoop contest.

The bar offers a couple of special packages for the party.

The Hang 10 is $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and includes a barbecue dinner and a free drink.

The Late Takeoff is $8 and includes a free drink, but no dinner.

Credit cards are accepted. For more information, call 847-7210.
