The governor's methamphetamine task force holds its first meeting today, hearing from agencies that enforce the drug laws as well as those that deal with addicts.
Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto will chair the meeting, which will be held at the attorney general's office in Carson City.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Bristlecone Family Resource Center, Nevada Sheriff's and Chief's Association and Washoe County Juvenile Justice Services will make presentations to the 16-member group appointed by Gov. Jim Gibbons
In his executive order creating the task force, Gibbons directed them to study the impact of methamphetamine on the state's law enforcement, corrections and social and community services, then present their findings and possible solutions to the Legislature by April 1.
"The impact of meth reaches all corners of our communities, and addressing the problem will not be an easy feat," said Masto.
